A NOD TO MOD

From Windham Fabrics

Designer Jan Avellana’s first collection with Windham, A Nod to Mod features a colorful, modern aesthetic and simplified and organic forms that pay tribute to the work of artists like Henri Matisse and Alexander Girard.

The collection’s “mod” color palette ranges from brown, orange, and gold to teal, blue, pink, and cream. And its designs perfectly capture a retro feel while maintaining clean, contemporary lines.

SIMPLY COLOR: RED, ORANGE, YELLOW, GREEN, BLUE AND PURPLE

From Lucky Spool Media

Retail: $25.95 (book);
$17.99 (eBook)

This new series of books from fabric and pattern designer Vanessa Christenson of V & Co. includes six 8” x 8” hardcovers—one for each color—featuring gorgeous photographs and patterns showcasing a single color at a time.

Christenson is known for her use of multiple hues of the same color in a single design, and this series celebrates that idea with projects that feature only one or two colors and a neutral. The series begins with Simply Color: Red, and follows with orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple every other month through 2015.

PERCOLATE

From Carolina Patchworks

Retail: $9.50

One of the latest patterns from designer Emily Cier, “Percolate” offers up a modern take on the traditional triangle. The design, according to Cier, may look like triangles, but is completely open to interpretation—“ripples on a pond,” “a rainstorm,” “drops streaming down a window,” or “a shattered ice sheet.”

The pattern requires squares and yardage of Kona Cotton solids from Robert Kaufman (to achieve the “modern” look), and finishes to a size of 78 ¾” x 87 ½.”

FARMHOUSE BLOOMS

From Marcus Fabrics

This new collection from Olde Green Cupboard Designs’ Gloria Parsons and Vicky Iannucci takes its inspiration from the sister-design-duo’s childhood on an Indiana farm and the fabrics that they had around their house. Farmhouse Blooms features large- and small-scale florals, small prints, stripes, and a tablecloth-inspired check.

The collection has a definite vintage feel and charm, and is available in two color palettes—the more traditional red, blues, and greens, and a more modern pink, turquoise, and yellow.
