STORIES

PANDEMIC SURVIVAL STORIES

How did some quilt stores, online retailers, teachers, and designers make it through the past couple of years business-wise? Several share the biggest challenge they faced—how they pivoted to meet it, and thrive in the process!

The eINSIDER IS BAAACK!

Well, as the great singer Neil Diamond once crooned back in the ‘80s…hello, again…hello! No, we are not wearing as spangly shirt under perfectly coiffed hair while writing these words. But we are happy to say that eInsider is back on its regular quarterly schedule after a bit of a hiatus.

And while we made the difficult decision to postpone the planned spring 2022 edition of Quilt Market in Salt Lake City, we are anticipating to be back in full force for the next edition. Fall Quilt Market will be held October 29-31 (with classes and events beginning October 27) in our usual home of the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas!

The past two years, of course, have thrown a large number of hard and varied challenges at those in all roles in our industry (as well as…well…pretty much every industry!). In this issue of eInsider, we’ll hear from quilt shop owners, online retailers, teachers, and designers about their Pandemic Survival Stories.

Then, Stephanie Hackney of Hobbs Bonded Fibers gets to the “center” of things with the unsung hero of the quilt: the batting! She’ll discuss why it’s such an important factor of any quilt project, and how the many questions about the soft substance led her to create her own lecture!

And, as usual, our New Product Spotlight will showcase some of the fresh, new, and interesting products from Market exhibitors that are either just out or coming down the pike to you, and then to the quilting public.

If you’re receiving this, then you’re already on our database to receive the ezine. However, the one for general Quilt Market news and information is separate. Click HERE to sign up (if you aren’t already) to make sure you’re in the know about All Things Quilt Market!

Finally, do you have an idea about something you’d like to see covered in future issues of eInsider? Have a feature idea? A story about meeting Neil Diamond? Send it to us at einsider@quilts.com!

Happy reading. And remember…spring and a season of renewal is just around the calendar page!

STEPHANIE HACKNEY IS THE BATT-WOMAN

Go behind the scenes with the Director of Sales and Marketing for Craft and Retail Products at Hobbs Bonded Fibers as she talks about the “meat” of the proverbial quilt sandwich. And how product development and education is still important.
