WHAT’S TRENDING: TEXTURAL PRINTS
Textural prints are a great choice for quilts and projects requiring a fabric design that is subtle, yet a step beyond a solid. They’re versatile, easy to pair with busier prints, or perfect to use together to create movement.
For this edition of eInsider, we’ve rounded up a variety of new and recent textural fabric collections, from simple “weave” prints to more complex abstractions.
ATLANTIA FROM ROBERT KAUFMAN FABRICS
Proving that textural designs can draw inspiration from nature in unexpected ways, this collection features 23 vibrant and multi-hued fabrics with a shimmery fish scale pattern. (Or, with a little imagination, you could call it a mermaid tail design!)
PRECIOUS METALS FROM 3 WISHES FABRIC
Another nature-inspired collection, Precious Metals gorgeously captures the texture and movement of natural stones and, of course, precious metals. Textures include marble, geodes, and agate, and each features hints of metallic.
This many-hued collection from designer Di Ford-Hall features a subtle wavy design reminiscent of moiré, a silk fabric with a rippled, lustrous finish. Taken from the French word for “to water,” moiré is a sophisticated fabric once used in high fashion and home décor.
From designer Another Point of View, the Uncorked collection may have the appearance of cork fabric, but it’s actually 100% cotton. Each cork-look fabric also features metallic accents, and with the recent addition of 18 new SKUS, Uncorked includes a total of 42 colors.
COLOR WEAVE PEARL FROM BENARTEX/
CONTEMPO STUDIO
This new collection offers a pearlescent take on Contempo’s Color Weave series. The woven-look fabrics range in color from pure white to saturated lavender and sorbet (and plenty in between), and each features a pearly sheen that adds a touch of sparkle.
NEW HUE PEARL FROM BENARTEX/KANVAS STUDIO
This collection of “basics” includes subtle textural prints with a pearlescent finish. Colors include lights (Cloud and Sky), mediums (Peony and Fog), and darks (Onyx and Grape), plus more.
A new collection from quilter/designer Caryl Bryer Fallert-Gentry, Glacier features organic, wavy textures ideal for creating quilts with light and movement—much like the type of quilt for which Fallert-Gentry is known!
TESSELLATIONS TWICE FROM BLANK QUILTING
A follow-up to the first Tessellations collection from designer Amiee Sue Malott, this new collection includes a variety of textural designs—brushstrokes, raindrops, and abstracted geometrics—in a calming, neutral color palette.
STRATA FROM MICHAEL MILLER FABRICS
This recent collection includes an expansive mix of textured prints—marbled swirls, ink blots, weaves, and painterly stripes—in 15 different color stories, both lush jewel tones and earthy hues.
HARBOR REFLECTIONS FROM NORTHCOTT
This new collection from designer Norm Olson includes a panel print featuring an abstracted view of a city harbor, as well as a variety of coordinating textural designs—brushstrokes, subtle geometrics, and textured solids.
