COTTON + STEEL THREAD
From Sulky
Cotton + Steel and Sulky first announced this new joint venture back at spring Quilt Market, and began taking orders at fall Market in Houston. The thread—available for independent retail shops only, and shipping in early 2017—is 50 wt 100% long-staple Egyptian grown cotton, spun in Egypt and dyed in Italy. And the line is available in 100 vibrant colors (to pair perfectly with their fabrics). Even the spools feature playful, colorful labels.

MOD STRAWBERRIES PATTERN

The design for this fun quilt pattern features repeating rows of modern, patchwork strawberries, each measuring 9” x 12.” The pattern uses the company’s “no-stress,” no-pins method for piecing curves, and the QCR Mini Ruler for cutting the curved pieces. The finished quilt measures 61” x 66.” Mod Strawberries is available in both paper pattern and PDF.

Available in March 2017, this new line offers a clean, modern take on holiday-themed designs. Prints include repeating Christmas trees, festive ornaments, stars, and geometric stripes, all with splashes of metallic. One of the line’s colorways features traditional red, green, and golds, while the other skews softer in pinks and subtle teal.

Fans of Jaybird Quilts’ easy-to-follow patterns will love this new (smaller-than-a-quilt) 20” x 20” pillow pattern.
