MARCH

WHAT’S TRENDING: THE MARCH HARE

In addition to the Easter holiday, this month is also host to the official first day of spring. So, it seems only natural that we’re seeing rabbits popping up everywhere (hold the reproduction jokes, please) in fabrics and patterns. And we’re as “mad as a March hare” about this sweet sign of spring!

WONDERLAND BY MELISSA MORTENSON
for Riley Blake Designs

The collection’s main print features charming flower-bedecked bunnies against a background of pink or white, while its “Rabbit” prints offer repeating stripes of rabbit silhouettes in pinks and blues. Coordinating prints include florals, stripes, and the geometric “Labyrinth” design.

LITTLE BITS FOR SPRING from Bunny Hill Designs

This set includes four “little” embroidery patterns (fitting a 4” x 4” hoop/frame) that deliver big on cuteness! The patterns include a spring chick, two variations on a dachshund—one solo, and one with a spring chick along for the ride—and, of course, a bunny.

FOREST FLOOR BY BONNIE CHRISTINE for Art Gallery Fabrics

This collection consists of a variety of woodland-themed prints, the rabbit-centric “In the Thicket” among them. Other Forest Floor designs feature moths, moss, mushrooms, flowers, fireflies, and trees. The collection is available in two colorways: the morning-hued Early Bright and the dusk-tinged Late Night.

BUNNY TALES from American Jane Patterns

This oh-so-sweet pattern from designer Sandy Klop incorporates the rabbit motif into a traditional-quilt-block setting. The finished piece—which measures 50” x 60”—includes 12 bunny blocks and a checkerboard border. The quilt was made using American Jane’s Bread n Butter collection for Moda.

PACIFIC BY ELIZABETH HARTMAN
for Robert Kaufman Fabrics

The latest collection from designer Hartman offers a graphic, pop-art-like take on raindrops, anemones (which one might easily mistake for starbursts), and rabbit pairs. Yes, Hartman’s minimal rabbit-themed “Sweethearts” print features repeating rows of rabbits (presumably) in love. The “Sweethearts” design is available in Jade (teal), Brick (red), Fog (pale blue), and Pickle (citron).

SOMMER BY SARAH JANE
for Michael Miller Fabrics

Upon first glance at this latest collection from Sarah Jane, rabbits don’t exactly leap from the designs. But further inspection reveals the elusive rabbit in many of the collection’s prints, including “Garden,” “Tulip Tangled,” “Sundborn,” and “Garden.” eInsider adores the simplicity and restraint of Sarah Jane’s designs, and Sommer—subtle rabbit motif included—is no exception.

FLORA AND FAWN from Timeless Treasures

The precious Flora and Fawn collection is all things feminine, sweet, and pretty in pink. Pastel-hued prints include Deer, Owls, and Bunnies (yes, “Bunnies,” because the word “rabbit” simply isn’t cute enough), as well as an Allover Floral and Tonal Triangle complementary prints. The Bunnies design features varying styles of rabbit, ear heights, and bunny tails….and would make the ideal fabric choice for a baby-related project.

CUDDLE BUDDIES ANIMAL SOFTIE PATTERN from C&T Publishing

On the subject of baby projects, this new pattern from designer Kirstyn Cogan offers five options for creating “friendly faced” stuffed animals, including a puppy, panda, pig, cat, and—you guessed it—a rabbit. Each animal uses the same basic body shape (and pattern), with felt and hand-stitched details creating the various faces.

KNUFFLE BUNNY BY MO WILLEMS
for Cloud9 Fabrics

Released last fall, Knuffle Bunny is the latest Cloud9 collection featuring the artwork of children’s book author and illustrator Mo Willems. The collection’s prints include the likeness of the title character from the Knuffle Bunny trilogy, as well as scenes and dialogue bubbles representative of the Caldecott-honored books.

THE HIDDEN GARDEN BY MIRIAM BOS
for Birch Organic Fabric

The densely patterned prints of Bos’ second collection with Birch are meant to portray “a remote clearing in your favorite garden, where you go to daydream.” And, certainly, the collection has a daydream-like quality to it. Although we absolutely adore every one of The Hidden Garden’s designs, it’s the “Bunny Hop” print where we find our friend, the rabbit, leaping through the grass. “Bunny Hop” is available in Dusk (navy), Green, Marigold, and Orange.
