WHAT’S TRENDING: LOVE STORIES
We’re nearing the month of February, which means that Valentine’s Day is in the not-so-distant future…cue the oversized teddy bears and candy hearts!
Whether or not you celebrate it as a “Day of Romance,” Valentine’s Day can be a great occasion for undertaking any number of fun and adorable sewing projects. And for this edition of eInsider, it’s also the perfect excuse for highlighting fabrics that transform the intangible concepts of romance and love into material design elements.
LOVE FROM PARIS from Windham Fabrics
This new collection from Whistler Studios celebrates the “City of Love” with Parisian-themed motifs like the Eiffel Tower, “keys to the city,” and classic fleur-de-lis. The collection also includes love-letter-inspired French text prints, and a main print featuring illustrations of Paris landmarks layered with text and damask patterns. On sale now; shipping to stores in June.
POETRY IN MOTION from Michael Miller Fabrics
Romantic florals take the lead in this new collection from Michael Miller, shipping April 15. In addition to the “Poetry in Motion,” “Lyrical Rose,” and “Poetic Petals” prints, the collection also includes the handwritten-text-themed “Love Note” design in several color variations. Poetry in Motion is available in two colorways: Scarlet (reds, aqua, and gray) and Midnite (purples, pinks, and deep blue). See the Collection »
Text of the musical variety makes an appearance in this recent collection from Skipping Stones Studio. Love Song features decorative florals and hearts layered with handwritten lyrics and lines of musical notes. The collection’s pastel-ish color palette is comprised of pale pinks, light teals, cream, and hints of red. See the Collection »

GUSTAV KLIMT from Robert Kaufman Fabrics
This new collection, featuring the artwork of famed Austrian painter Gustav Klimt, is quite the departure from the aforementioned love-centric fabric collections. But there are few things more romantic than his celebrated masterpiece, This Kiss, which also happens to be one of the stars (in the form of a panel print) of the fabric collection bearing his name. Additional panel prints include the images of Klimt’s Adele Bloch-Bauer and a section of his famous The Tree of Life.
