WHAT’S TRENDING: AUTUMN COLORS
Some people may say that August is too early to begin talking about autumn. To them, we say, “You obviously do not live in Texas, where today’s high temperature of 99 degrees is actually down from last week.”
We’re dreaming of warm hues and cooler temps. So, for those of us in sweltering states and beyond, we’re highlighting fall-themed fabric collections and patterns in this edition of “What’s Trending.”
Autumn Harvest
from Michael Miller Fabrics
This new group from Michael Miller Fabrics is quintessentially fall. Autumn Harvest prints feature classic autumn designs—fall florals, leaves, and a “Harvest Bounty”—in red, orange, yellow, green, and brown tones.

Shades of the Season 11
from Robert Kaufman Fabrics
Another classically autumn collection, Shades of the Season by designer Lynnea Washburn includes a gorgeous panel print featuring fall floral arrangements, wreaths, and pumpkins. Other prints in the collection include sunflowers, leaves, and even feathers.

Autumn Vibes from Art Gallery Fabrics
This new collection from designer Maureen Cracknell offers an updated take on fall florals and foliage. Other prints include “Foxes in Fall,” “Squirrels at Play,” and trellis and geometric prints. The collection’s color palette also skews modern with shades of honey, pumpkin, and eggplant.
Project: Autumn Winds quilt pattern designed by Sharon Holland
Autumn Love from Riley Blake Designs
New from designer Lori Holt (Bee in my Bonnet), the Autumn Love collection features a variety of adorable small prints in brighter autumn hues. Designs include petite florals, plaids, ginghams, polka dots, geometrics, and cross-stitch-inspired text prints.

Calico Crow from Penny Rose Fabrics
This charming new collection from designer Lauren Nash offers a fun take on the autumn theme. Calico Crow’s main print features adorably illustrated crows in a variety of familiar situations. Other prints include simpler crow designs, pumpkins, florals, plaids, and stripes. The real star of the collection is the “Ads” print, which features vintage-inspired ads and recipe cards for fall favorites like pumpkin pie and cranberry nut bread.
Projects: American Honey quilt pattern (left) designed by Keera Job and Patchwork Paddock quilt pattern (right) designed by Melissa Mortenson
Fall Goodness from Blend Fabrics
A recent collection by designer Cori Dantini, Fall Goodness blends whimsical autumn-themed imagery—fall foliage, pumpkins, foxes, owls, black cats—with words and phrases of gratitude like “Be Thankful for Every Little Thing.” The result is a joyful and beautifully illustrated mix of prints ideal for fall projects.
Project: Happy Fall quilt pattern designed by Mary Kay Davis for Threads on the Floor
Autumn Woods by Northcott Studio
This autumn-themed collection celebrates the great outdoors (and the creatures that inhabit them) with prints featuring fall-colored moose, bear, deer, wolf, and squirrel designs. Other prints include fall foliage, stripes, and wilderness-themed text.

Pumpkin Patch from Island Batik
Introduced late last year, this line of batiks from Kathy Engle features subtle (batik-style) pumpkin, leaf, floral, and vine patterns in shades of orange, red, yellow, and green.
Artisan Batiks: Cornucopia 9
from Robert Kaufman
Another autumn-hued collection of batik fabrics, Cornucopia 9 by Lunn Studios includes a variety of botanical and organic designs in soft browns, greens, oranges, and golds.
